Call for focused and exploratory projects

The Swiss Platform for Advanced Scientific Computing (PASC) is looking for shorter and more focused projects with a substantially lower budget than the existing co-design projects. Two types of projects are envisaged:

  • Focused projects aiming at solving a specific challenge, which represents a bottleneck for the performance of existing or future codes. Such projects are expected to translate into direct improvement of operational codes; projects with the sole aim of developing generic methods and algorithms will not be supported. The PASC steering committee specifically identified two priority area for focused projects, namely climate research and molecular dynamics. Projects outside these areas will be supported only in well-justified cases.
  • Exploratory projects aiming to prepare the ground for future larger co-design projects in emerging domains of computational applications. These projects might aim at developing concepts and methods for these domains, as well as smaller-scale tests in order to prepare the development of future high-performing codes. High priority will be given to project in the broader domain of social sciences (including economics).

Proposals can be submitted until October 31st, 2014 at 23:59 PM.

Complete project proposals must be submitted in PDF format via email to projectoffice@pasc-ch.org.

Please notice that this will be the last call for projects within the PASC programme.
